Prospective Graduate Students

I usually take one student every year. All my incoming students are:

  1. fluent in one or more geospatial techniques (e.g., remote sensing, GIS, spatial analysis, spatial modeling, etc.),
  2. have a real desire to apply these tools to answer real-world ecological questions, and
  3. have a commitment to outreach.

I am interested in tool development, but only if it answers an ecological question. I like programmers, and people with experience in web programming and Open Source GIS as well. My work is focused in California systems, particularly forests and wetlands, but I also work in agricultural systems, and across scales. If you are interested in applying to work with me in ESPM, please look at the Department's Prospective Student Website, and consider the kind of work my lab does. I also like to meet prospective students when at all possible, so if a trip to Berkeley works, please let me know.
