Location, location, location

Two interesting articles from Wired via the Map Room.

  1. Wired magazine's tips on getting better GPS reception.
  2. Clive Thompson's article Future of the Web: Location, Location, Location asks: How is the return of geography (via location-aware cell phones et al) going to change our lives?

Clive Thompson's article was eye-opening. The fact that so many 'tweens' are willing to openly publish online: where they are geographically, what they are doing at any given moment, who there friends are, what their interests are, etc. astounds me. Maybe I've been exposed to one too many cons and crooks in my day, but it just seems like these people are asking to get victimized. Ironic that during an era when so many complain about the public's right to privacy, half the public is publishing their entire life online.
