Thanks to Josh for pointing this out. Watch this lovely Quest (from KQED) show on mapping our coastal seafloor from Sonoma to Monterey Bay. Great visualizations of active underwater remote sensing.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 6:45PM
A couple of newsworthy items concerning our neighbor to the south (Not including Karin's "Google Gate Bridge" idea): 1. Google Earth gets assisted by new satellite; 2. Google Earth used in Fossett search.

New LE tool: Conefor Sensinode 2.2: Software for quantifying the importance of habitat patches for landscape connectivity
Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11:58AM
New Patch/Corridor tool: CONEFOR SENSINODE 2.2. This is a new software that allows quantifying the importance of habitat areas for the maintenance or improvement of landscape connectivity. It is conceived as a tool for decision-making support in landscape planning and habitat conservation, through the identification and prioritization of critical sites for ecological connectivity.
I know nothing about it, but looks cool.

New Category - Geographic Music Videos
Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 12:12AM
OK, so there might not be many in this new category, but Bjork's "Jóga" video is kickin. Saw it at the gym. You know Bjork, Bono said of her: "She has a voice like an icepick that cut straight through to me heart!..." Regardless, this is all shot via fly-thoughs of Iceland, with some tectonic CGI. Very geographic.

Description: WhereCamp un-conference. Free. A hugely energetic overlap of diverse interests ranging from newbies, web 2.0 and mobile developers, social place hackers and artists to grad students, geographers, earth scientists and people focused on humanitarian and environmental efforts.
